Born and raised in Philadelphia, Jesse has spent the past two decades in London, directing premium documentary films and series for major global platforms including Netflix, Amazon Studios, Discovery+, and ESPN Films.
His debut feature, Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet (2012), told the remarkable story of musician Jason Becker and his battle with ALS. The film won multiple festival awards worldwide and was named a New York Times Critic’s Pick upon its theatrical release.
Jesse’s next film, The Prince of Pennsylvania, was produced as part of ESPN Films’ prestigious 30 for 30 series. It premiered at the Philadelphia Film Festival and Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Sports Documentary. The series later won an Emmy for Outstanding Short-Format Nonfiction.
He went on to direct the Netflix Original series Captive (2016), the feature documentary Gypsy’s Revenge for ID Films (2017), This is Football for Amazon Studios (2018), and the Netflix Original series The Ripper (2019), which reached the number-one spot globally on the platform.
His four-part documentary Curse of the Chippendales was produced by Discovery+ and Amazon Studios. It premiered at the 65th BFI London Film Festival in 2021 and was nominated for a Broadcast Award for Best Documentary Series.
In April 2025, Netflix released The Diamond Heist, a three-part series directed by Jesse and executive produced by Guy Ritchie and Simon Chinn, which quickly climbed to number one on the platform.
His latest completed project is a sports feature documentary for Netflix’s Untold franchise, set for release in April 2026.
Jesse is currently directing a new Netflix documentary series with Ridley Scott Associates.
